The ‘W’ Blush Application Trick Changed the Way I Do My Makeup — See Photos

If there’s one beauty product that I “can’t” be without, it’s blush. Give me a cream, powder, or something in between – I’ll apply it without a fuss to look like a lighter, less tired version of myself.

However, the shock of all shocks, “signing up with giving up” isn’t necessarily the most efficient route to that goal. I was reminded of this when I was fortunate enough to sit in the chair of makeup artist Mariela Bagnato, who came up with a blush application trick I had never heard of before.

To create a healthy-looking blush, while also visually tightening the face, Apply your blush in the shape of a ‘W .’, Bagnato said. Imagine the letter pasted squarely in the center of your face: “Sweep or blend blush near your temples, down the center of your cheeks, up the bridge of your nose, and vice versa. [and up] otherwise,” she said.

The end result is a subtle glow on your face where the sun naturally shines. And because the color sits near your temples and pours downwards, this technique also “helps contour your face by creating a lifting effect,” says Bagnato.
