“This is a hard race car to drive”

Retired NASCAR driver Harrison, son of Jeff Burton, who is competing in his first NASCAR Cup season, has had a year of underperformance so far. His career best finish of 14th was last weekend at Darlington Raceway.

Harrison Burton and his Wood Brothers Racing #21 team put in consistently strong performances on Sunday. It may have been a small achievement for them, but it was an important step forward for young Harrison.

Jeff Burton’s son recently said that Darlington’s race was the first time he felt comfortable in his season. He goes on to say that the Next Gen car is difficult to drive and believes it is a good fit for the Cup Series.

Burton junior says:

“It’s like the first time I didn’t feel uncomfortable in this race, it’s just a myth when you think about it. This is a tough race car to drive, which is great for our sport, I think. For me, it was like, ‘Oh my gosh. I can finally be aggressive in this car. ‘ And I still haven’t felt that and now I feel like we’ll be able to recreate that and go after it more. ”

He continued, saying:

“At least it was a rough start. Fourteenth place is our best finish, so that’s not good. There’s nothing to hide that. I think there’s some growing pain there and I feel like we’re on the right track now. “

Prior to the Cup Series, Harrison Burton won the 2017 K&N Pro Series East championship and competed in two full-time Xfinity Series seasons, where he won four races.

“I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is that I’m not going to quit.” – Harrison, son of Jeff Burton

Jeff Burton’s son Harrison, who is the youngest driver of the 2022 season, says his rookie season has opened the eyes to his career. The 21-year-old added that he has learned a lot about himself.

Burton junior says:

“I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is that I’m not going to quit. There is nothing that I will never give up. I think some of the good things about this beginning is that you build trust in your work ethic, you build trust in your desires. ”

Catch Harrison Burton at Kansas Speedway next weekend for the AdventHealth 400. The race will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday.
