The late summer heat wave knocked me unconscious and I ended up with a sunburn.
I’ve been focusing on sunburn treatments to soothe my bright red skin, and these are my favorite products. . .
Budget
Hawaiian Tropic after sun exotic coconut body butter, (£11.49, 250ml, boots.com): Hawaiian Tropic is the essence of summer for me and is always the sunscreen I will buy abroad.
The tub format makes me a little uncomfortable – there’s nothing worse than getting product under your nails. But that aside, the actual recipe is Pretty.
It’s thick but not greasy, smells great, and absorbs easily so it doesn’t feel sticky.
Plus, the pot is so large that it will be enough for the whole family during a long vacation.
Midrange
Mantle SOS Skin Cream, (£25, 200ml, hellomantle.co.uk): I’d never tried Mantle before but bought it home after a recommendation from another beauty editor that it was a savior for sunburned skin.
She was not wrong – the mint cooled immediately and was immediately taken away. burn from my burns.
It’s nice that you don’t have to keep it in the refrigerator to get that feeling, because I don’t usually plan on getting burned.
Thanks to the skillful preparation from aloe vera Veracalendula and CBD, it also moisturizes and soothes, so the worst of the redness will disappear overnight.
It leaves the skin with a lovely shine and smells like an expensive men’s perfume, easily earning the top spot.
Luxurious
Dr Barbara Sturm Aloe Vera Gel, £55, 125ml cultbeauty.com: It’s no secret that aloe vera is great for soothing sunburns but I’m skeptical at the price you can get many similar gels for a tenth of the price.
I hate to say this but it is the best aloe vera gel I have ever used.
I often find they can dry out my skin and leave it feeling uncomfortable. moviebut this is not the case.
A little goes a long way, so this tube is better value for money than it first appeared, but realistically I doubt I’ll spend the money again on an afternoon, which is the only reason why it Not my favorite.
Pick of the week
With the current heatwave, one thing on my mind is staying cool – so you can only imagine my delight when I tried the Clarins Cryo-Flash cream mask, £53, clarins.co.ukproven to reduce skin temperature by 4C.
It definitely feels refreshing and I’ve been using it every day before applying makeup – and the compliments have been overwhelming.
