Three World Cup stars Rangers should consider ahead of January window

The World Cup is now over but Qatar will serve as the perfect scouting pool ahead of the January transfer window and here are three players Rangers should consider bringing to Ibrox who came to light during the winter tournament:
Three players should bring Rangers to Ibrox
Harry Souttar (Australia and Stoke)
Australia defied the odds to finish in the last 16 in a group that included finalists France, an impressive Tunisia and Denmark – seen by many as a dark horse. Souttar was crucial to their campaign, playing at centre-back.
The Aberdeen-born defender was great. Especially when beating Tunisia. Forward Mitchell Duke got the award, but Souttar was the real hero. Currently at Stoke, where he has a contract until 2025, he is of course the brother of John Souttar.
Riley McGree (Australia and Middlesbrough)
In 2020, ex-Rangers defenseman Craig Moore claimed he tried to convince Rangers to sign McGree. The midfielder started all four of Australia’s World Cup games and was a powerhouse who played in a variety of positions.
He played on the winger, as a central midfielder, as a 10 and even as a second striker. McGree, now linked with Celtic, would be ideal for Rangers’ midfield. A signing in January will bring much-needed energy to Michael Beale’s side.
Bruno Petkovic (Croatia and Dinamo Zagreb)
Rangers must consider bringing in a new striker. Antonio Colak scores goals but offers little follow-up play. Alfredo Morelos remains without a contract at the end of the season. So why not Borna Barisic’s Croatian teammate?
The 28-year-old scored against Brazil in a game where Croatia defeated Tite’s side on penalties. He has scored 12 goals in 27 games this season but his contract expires in 2024. Rangers have already played in Croatia and that would make sense.
