Timbaland breaks his silence after Magoo’s death

Timbaland has broken his silence after his longtime friend Magoo passed away. Magoo was 50 when he reportedly died of a stroke.

“This is different 🥲🥲🥲 long live Melvin aka magoo !!!💔💔💔 Tim and Magoo forever 🕊️🕊️🕊️ Rest easy my king ❤️❤️❤️,” he captioned a video in which he appears alongside the late rapper .

Timbaland & Magoo were a rap duo consisting of producer/rapper Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and rapper Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff, formed in 1989. Originally from Norfolk, Virginia, the duo met when they were teenagers. They later joined forces as a duo and released their debut album, Welcome to Our World, which spawned their chart-topping single, Up Jumps da Boogie.

As a group, they released two more studio albums, Indecent Proposal in 2001 and Under Construction, Part II in 2003. The latter was intended as a follow-up to Missy Elliott’s fourth album Under Construction.

In August 2021, Blackground Records, the label that launched R&B/pop singer Aaliyah, signed a distribution deal with Empire Distribution to bring the Timbaland & Magoo catalog on CD, cassette and vinyl to digital download platforms for the first time ever. As a result, Timbaland’s 1998 LP Tim’s Bio: Life from da Bassment and the Timbaland & Magoo albums Welcome to Our World, Indecent Proposal and Under Construction, Part II were re-released on August 27, 2021.
