Tourists Flock Back to Europe Just When Its Economy Needs Them Most

Two years ago, Dimitris Taliadouros closed his travel company in Athens when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. He found a job in telecommunications while other tour guides began working as delivery drivers. “Nice, luxurious cars were loaded with boxes,” he recalls.
Now Mr Taliadouros is back in the tourism industry as visitor numbers recover, fueled in part by the Americans and a stronger dollar. He believes his operations are now back to about 80% of what they were before the pandemic.
