The 2022-23 NBA season may still be a long way off, but that doesn’t mean we can’t mentally prepare by feasting on some swooning new threads.
First launched in 2016, the City Edition kits are updated every year. While some teams stick to the same design for multiple seasons, others keep changing it. Or, if you’re the Utah Jazz, do a little bit of both. At least one team (s/o Washington Wizards) aligned with their MLB counterpart on aesthetics.
In addition to the much-hyped City Edition looks, some teams, like the San Antonio Spurs, are throwing it back next season. Check out the Classic Edition jerseys that pay homage to the franchise’s origins.
Here’s a look at the latest kit updates as soon as they’re released by the teams.

They care about their city
The Wiz Kids are all about the cherry blossoms. The Wizards unveiled their homage to the nation’s capital’s iconic flowers back in March, but won’t debut their pink alternate uniforms until the 2022-23 season.
The team’s MLB counterpart, the Washington Nationals, unveiled a similar City Edition unified set as the franchises worked together to create a unified alternate look across all sports. The collaboration with Nike marks the first unified campaign between MLB and NBA teams from the same market.
Hopefully the cherry blossom look bodes better for the Wizards — on Monday, the Nationals were bottom in the NL East (30-58).

San Antonio Spurs
Spurs are going back to basics. In recent years, Spurs’ City Edition jerseys have featured a camouflage pattern and, most recently, white canvas with the iconic ‘Fiesta stripe’ down the sides, based on the team’s popular warm-up drills from the 1990s.
Now, in honor of San Antonio’s 50th season, the team is launching Classic Edition jerseys that pay tribute to the team’s storied legacy. Popularized by Spurs legend George Gervin, the look features “San Antonio” on a black-on-black jersey chest.
“The Spurs Classic Edition uniform is a symbolic way for us to honor our legacy, our players and our loyalty to the city of San Antonio, while giving our fans what they’ve been asking for – we hear you,” said Becky Kimbro , Vice President of Brand Engagement for Spurs Sports & Entertainment.
Can’t wait to rock this this season 🤩

Old school meets new school
New uniforms but make it 90s. Jazz changes things and throws things back at the same time. Utah announced that its primary colors for next season will be black, yellow and white. But the team also announced three purple kits, two of which will not be worn until 2023-24.
The Jazz enlisted the help of a video to tease their new purple mountain uniform set, which is coming back for the 2022-23 season. Utah also teased a new purple mountain uniform for the following year, along with a classic jersey reminiscent of the original jazz jersey design when the team first moved to Utah from New Orleans.
If jazz seems to field a lot of ensembles, it’s because they do.
