Raising US housing prices, disrupting supply chains and eliminating manufacturing jobs are not among President Biden’s stated economic goals. But you wouldn’t know from the Department of Commerce’s latest trade tool.
In June, Commerce imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty of 323% on quartz manufactured by Antique Group, one of the US’s largest Indian suppliers. Quartz from another 51 Indian suppliers faces new US tariffs of nearly 162%. The trade recently held hearings on the matter and has until November 1 to make a final decision.
