The first official trailer for Black Adam went online on June 8, 2022 and after numerous teasers and clips gave us a first really good insight into the film. The trailer shows the Justice Society of America having to take on the titular character after he’s awakened from a 5,000-year sleep. At one point, Hawkman tells Black Adam, “Heroes don’t kill people,” with the antihero bluntly responding, “Well, I do.” With plenty of superhero action, a sense of humor, and a scathing callback to the first iron man Movie and The Rock is The Rock (as Black Adam), the trailer definitely did not disappoint. Another trailer was released in July. This was followed by another trailer in September 2022, revealing the return of Viola Davis“Amanda Waller. Two more clips were released that same month, one highlighting Black Adam’s position in the DC Universe in relation to other DCEU icons, and another going deeper into the character’s dark side. Who are the confirmed characters in Black Adam?
Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam is of course the main character of the film. Born a slave named Teth-Adam in the nation of Kahndaq, Adam is a courageous and inherently heroic person. But despite his good intentions, he is a ruthless warrior who would destroy anyone who stood in his way without a second thought.
In addition to Adam, Shahi will also play Adrianna Tomaz, a university professor and resistance fighter in Kahndaq, in the film. In the comics, Adrianna eventually becomes a superhero named Isis and marries Black Adam. She is responsible for tempering Adam’s violent tendencies and pushing him towards more heroic paths. Whether the character in the film will follow a similar path remains to be seen.
Black Adam will also feature the Justice Society of America, a multi-generational team of superheroes who were the predecessors of the Justice League. The JSA had a huge roster of heroes in the comics (including Adam), but only a handful will appear in the film.
Centineo will play atom smashera JSA member with the power to change its size and density. Adam Copeland played a version of the character in Season 2 of The Lightning.
Hodge will appear as Hawkman. The leader of the JSA, Hawkman, is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince. In this life, he is an archaeologist who can fly with wings made of an alien material called Nth metal. Hawkman is a popular character who has previously appeared in comics, animation, and live action. The character was played by Michael Shanks in Kleinville and from Falk Hentschel in The CW’s Arrowverse.
Swindell plays another JSA member named Cyclone. She is the granddaughter of the original Red Tornado. Cyclone has the power to control wind and sound. Her place on the team was originally intended to be filled by Hawkgirl, but the character was ultimately dropped from the film.
Pierce Brosnan completes the film’s JSA roster as Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate. Nelson is the son of an archaeologist who was chosen by the Helm of Destiny to become a magical superhero and defend the world against the forces of chaos. In case you’re wondering, Doctor Fate was introduced 23 years before Doctor Strange, so he’s not a rip-off from Marvel’s Sorcerer Supreme. Brent Stait played the character in Kleinville and versions of the character have appeared in many DC animated shows and games.
The film will also feature the international criminal gang imaginatively named Intergang. In addition, Bodhi Sabongui allegedly an as yet undisclosed key character from the games Black Adam Comics.
When will Black Adam be filmed?
main photography on Black Adam began in April 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. The film was originally scheduled to start filming in July 2020, but this has been delayed by the coronavirus situation.
Johnson announced on July 15, 2021 that he had completed filming his scenes and officially wrapped the film. Some filming for the film then continued without Johnson for a few weeks and was relocated to Los Angeles. executive producer Dany GarciaApproved This on July 25, with the words: “We haven’t packed yet so we have a few weeks left. [Dwayne] packaged, so that’s a kind of packaging. Black Adam wrapped. But we have a lot of really good things going on that are actually continuing in LA.”
When will Black Adam be discontinued?
Black Adam is expected to be discontinued at this time. Since it’s technically a sequel to Shazam!the film will likely be set after the events of the first film.
Some parts of the film are probably set 5000 years ago at the time of Kahndaq’s fame. But apart from possible flashbacks, Black Adam will largely be a modern take on the character.
What is the story of Black Adam?
In Adam’s day, Kahndaq was an oppressive nation that used magic and sorcery to enslave portions of its population. But once he became the champion, Adam used his power to free his people and rule Kahndaq as their king.
He was originally a hero, but after his family was killed, Adam turned to darkness and unintentionally freed the demons known as the Seven Deadly Sins. He was then imprisoned for his crimes and Black Adam will see him return from his prison after 5000 years, determined to restore Kahndaq to its former glory.
It is currently unknown how the film is connected Shazam! but the sorcerer’s death might allow Adam to escape from his prison. While the details of the film’s plot have yet to be released, we’ll likely see Black Adam restore his kingdom. This could cause the JSA to oppose him, leading to a war between Adam and the superheroes. Given how these stories usually go, a greater threat will likely emerge, leading the heroes to band together to save the world.
The official synopsis from Warner Bros. reads:
New Line Cinema’s Dwayne Johnson stars in the action-adventure Black Adam. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”), the first-ever feature film to explore the history of the DC superhero comes to the big screen nearly 5,000 years after it was bestowed with the omnipotent powers of the Old Gods – and just as quickly imprisoned – Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly grave, ready to unleash his unique brand of justice on the modern world.”
Will Black Adam have sequels?
DC has big plans for Black Adam in the DCEU, although no sequels have been confirmed yet. 2017, explained Johnson There were plans to pit Adam against Shazam in a future film.
“So we decided to create a scenario where Black Adam has his standalone movie and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his standalone movie,” he said. “We build our world like this, and then eventually we can get together.”
Superman Actor Henry Cavill had too bullied a possible crossover between Black Adam and the Man of Steel in the DCEU’s future. His exact words were, “There’s definitely some kind of work for that.”
Admittedly plans change so we might not actually get one Black Adam vs Superman: Dawn of Capes Movie. But the character will definitely have some form of future in the DCEU, even if nothing has been officially announced. Black Adam has recently had a resurgence in comics, even becoming a mainstay member of the Justice League. So it looks like DC will make the character a major player in the years to come.
