Travel costs decreasing significantly, according to Consumer Price Index report

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — According to the consumer price index published earlier this week, travel costs have fallen significantly.

But travelers returning from summer trips still felt the pain in their wallet when booking flights.

“In terms of cost, the inflation has been pretty crazy,” said Eric Howard of West Philadelphia. “You already know how tough it is out here. We just want to go on vacation or see family members.”

However, the prices change. From June to July, car and truck rental prices fell 9.5%, airfares fell 7.8% and hotels and motels fell 3.2%.

Travel experts say airfares have fallen due to the drop in jet fuel and slacking demand on expensive summer flights.

“This follows airfares skyrocketing really fast in the spring. But I think it’s important for people to realize that while airfares really did get a little bit more expensive in the spring, they’re now slowly falling and falling. said Scott Keyes, founder of Scott’s Cheap Flights.

Despite the price drop, Richard Jones Pennsauken said the cost of renting a car during his trip to Vegas was insane.

“The car was a bit like a Chevy Spark for $907 for three to four days,” he said.
