Trump Slams Brittney Griner: She Hates Our Country!!
Brittney Griner is free at home, but Donald Trump is not happy about her release from Russian prison.
Trump proposed Paul Whelan, a former Marine who was arrested in Russia in 2018 on espionage charges and convicted in 2020. Whelan received a 16-year sentence.
“What a deal it is to swap Brittney Griner, a basketball player who openly hates our country, for the man known as ‘The Merchant of Death,'” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
“What a stupid and unpatriotic disgrace to the US!” Trump wrote.
Griner was arrested in February for bringing vape cartridges containing hash oil to Russia. She was released in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, who was serving a 25-year sentence for conspiring to kill Americans.
Trump also slammed Griner over the summer.
“She knew you didn’t go in there full of drugs and she admitted it. I suppose she admitted it without too much force, because that’s the way it is,” he added. “It sure doesn’t seem like a very good trade, does it? He is one of the worst in the world and will be kept free because a potentially spoiled person goes to Russia loaded with drugs.”
