Turkey Launches Monitoring Site for Ukraine-Russia Grain Deal

ISTANBUL – Turkey’s defense chief unveiled a new control center where Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and UN officials are to monitor exports of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea under a deal reached last week, and signaled Turkey’s intention to ensure that deliveries begin .

The grain export deal, which could free up millions of tons of grain needed to alleviate a global food crisis, is marred by uncertainty after Russia launched a missile attack on the port of Odessa, one of the key grain export ports covered by the deal.
