Two teenagers arrested on suspicion of murder after man stabbed to death in Torquay

Cops have arrested two teenagers after a man was stabbed in Torquay.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident on Ellacombe Church Road at 3.30pm today to reports that a man had been attacked.

Detective Inspector Ben Beckerleg said: “Despite the best efforts of everyone at the scene, the victim, a local man in his 30s, was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been informed.

“Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who has sadly passed away.

“Our investigation is currently ongoing and we are carrying out a number of inquiries to establish what happened.

“We have arrested a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from Torquay, on suspicion of murder. They are currently in police custody.

“I know this incident will cause great concern in the community. We are doing everything we can to find out what happened today and residents can expect to see officers in and around the area over the next few days.

“Ellacombe Church Road has been cordoned off and a scene guard will be on duty throughout the day and will be on duty until tomorrow.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the Ellacombe Church Road area at around 3pm on Sunday September 17 to contact us.
