U.S. Jobless Claims Rose to 203,000 Last Week

New jobless claims rose for a second straight week last week but remained near historic lows, suggesting the US labor market is tightening.

The Labor Department said on Thursday initial claims for unemployment benefits, a representative of layoffs, rose 1,000 to 203,000 last week from last week’s revised level of 202,000.
