You may not have to brave crowded stores to get your child’s school supplies. Uber Eats now offers delivery of office and school supplies from around 900 Office Depot and OfficeMax stores across the United States. If you need a lot of staplers and pencils for your little ones’ lessons, you can have them delivered at lunchtime.
Unsurprisingly, if you’re an Uber One subscriber spending at least $15 on a purchase, you’ll avoid the delivery fee and get a 5 percent discount. Uber didn’t say if other office supply stores would be available, but noted that this is the “first.”
It might seem strange ordering school supplies through the same app that handles your takeaway meals. However, Uber has gradually expanded its deliveries to include goods ranging from groceries to medicines — like DoorDash, Eats is becoming more of a general delivery service. In theory, you’ll pick Uber Eats over competitors like Amazon Prime Now if you want to ship something in minutes rather than hours or days.
