Ukraine Seeks Corridor to Evacuate Civilians Near Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant

Scores of people were trying to evacuate from villages near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, Ukrainian officials said, when a blast cut off access to electricity and water in a nearby town.

Electricity and water supplies in Enerhodar, Ukraine, were halted after residents on Tuesday reported a powerful blast that shook the city, the mayor said Dmytro Orlov. Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk appealed to Russia to allow civilians from territory controlled by Russian forces to enter territory controlled by Ukraine.
