Unusual theme park with its own Wild West town – that TripAdvisor listed among country’s best attractions

ONE unusual theme park has been voted one of the best Great Britain attractions from TripAdvisor.
The Summer Weather Many people plan day trips, and theme parks are great choices for both families and the adventurous.
One place they might not have considered is Sundown Adventureland in the Midlands.
The lesser known theme park is located near Retford in Nottingham and has been voted one of Europe’s top amusement and water parks by Tripadvisor.
The park was also shortlisted in the UK Theme Park Awards in three different categories including Best Theme Park for Toddlers.
Sundown Adventureland is also often touted as one of the best theme parks for under 10s.
The park receives good reviews from the public with an overall score of 4.5/5 from more than 1,900 reviews on TripAdvisor.
One person wrote: “I came here when I was a kid with my grandparents and now I’m visiting with my own kids.”
“It’s absolutely magical and I can’t put into words how great this place is for young children – it has everything you could want.”
Another person added, “Totally captivating from the start and I loved that kids are encouraged to touch, move and explore.”
While a third said: “There’s plenty to do and the kids have been playing all the time.”
Spread over 50 acres, Sundown Adventureland is home to over 30 unusual rides and attractions.
One such ride is the Ostrich Safari Ride, which takes park visitors through the African savannah.
Others include Robin Hood’s Merry Adventure, The Giddy Piggies Ride, and The Monkey Mayhem. Drive School.
The theme park also has its own Christmas ride called The Night Before Christmas Ride.
Although it’s only open at Christmas time, from mid-November visitors are welcomed aboard Santa’s sleigh and taken on a magical journey through an enchanted forest.
In addition to the unique variety of rides, there are also eight themed play areas, including Shotgun City, a Wild West town.
Western fans will enjoy the traditional saloon with an animatronic sing-song show.
Other attractions include the Rocky Mountain Train Ride and a shooting range.
There is also a soft play area, cafe and restrooms for visitors.
Another zone is the angry one birds Zone, which also features a huge outdoor soft play area with jungle gyms, crawling tubes, swings, carousels and even a giant dummy catapult.
Captain Sandy’s Play Cove is another outdoor play area with a private beach.
Other outdoor play areas include Smugglers Cove, Pirate Adventure and Noah’s Ark.
There are also indoor play areas, including the giant Rodeo Corral and Crash Landings.
Other attractions include Lollipoppet Castle, a giant liquorice-themed fairytale castle.
There are also interactive walks and a gift shop where guests can purchase a souvenir.
Vacationers have also taken to TikTok to rave about the theme park.
TikTok user The Travel Mum said: “If you’re looking for a fun, whimsical day trip for your under 10s, then you need to check out Sundown Adventureland.”
“There’s a lot of really fun and unique areas for the little ones to explore and there’s this huge soft play area with a little ones area.” Babies and a place to have a coffee.

Entry for a full-paying adult and children over 90cm is £22 per ticket, all other children are free.
