Urgent holiday warning as Majorca, Ibiza and Menorca issued ‘red alert’ for ‘extreme risk’ of wildfires

Fire hazard warnings have been raised to “extreme” and “very high” for large parts of Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca.

High temperatures over the past few days have endangered popular Spanish islands, while Greece and Italy continue to battle devastating wildfires.

The warning also covered the popular areas of Palmanova and Santa Ponsa in Mallorca.

Ibiza and Menorca are also on “high alert”, said the Spanish weather authority AEMET.
