US Senate expected to confirm Lieutenant General Michael Langley as Marines’ 1st Black 4-star general

The US Senate is expected to confirm the Marines’ first black four-star general.

Lieutenant General Michael Langley has served 35 years in the US Marine Corps, CNN reported.

He is appointed commander of the US Africa Command, which oversees the US military presence in Africa.

The Senate Armed Services Committee held a confirmation hearing on Langley on Thursday.

If confirmed by the Senate, he would be the first black four-star general in the Marines’ 246-year history.
