Last night, CNN anchor Van Jones was the keynote speaker at the UJA – Federation of New York. The UJA (United Jewish Appeal – Federation of Jewish Philanthropies) is a non-profit organization with a mission to support Jewish New Yorkers – to meet their needs and shape Jewish culture.
Van spoke about his “Jewish Godmother” and the history of Blacks and Jewish Americans working together to end racism in his speech, but he didn’t stop there. He decided to tug at the black community for Kanye “Ye” West’s recent anti-Semitic rants.
He also apologized to the Jewish community for the behavior of the African Americans. He said he apologized “for my community’s silence” and allowed “an African American icon to praise Hitler and the Nazis, and we pretend we don’t know where that hatred came from.”
He then said, “The silence is over.” Black Twitter is now on fire as Van Jones publicly blamed the black community for Yes’s anti-Semitic comments and seemingly acquitted the media and the American company of Yes’s offensive many years ago , many of which targeted African Americans.
Van Jones, real name Anthony “Van” Jones, is an American news and political commentator, author, and attorney. He is a co-founder of several nonprofit organizations, a three-time New York Times bestselling author, CNN host and contributor, and an Emmy Award winner.
