Vehicle crashes after being pursued by Delaware State Police on I-95 in Tinicum Township, Delaware County

TOWNSHIP TINICUM, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — A car chase involving a carjacking suspect ended in an accident in Tinicum Township, Delaware County.

The crash occurred just after 4 p.m. Tuesday on I-95 northbound between Rt. 420 and Rt. 291.

The Delaware Police Department said Action News officers were chasing a vehicle stolen from a car.

Police officers said the car was stolen from a treatment facility parking lot at Block 3300 of Kirkwood Highway just before 3:00 p.m. The car was discovered shortly thereafter in Wilmington, Delaware.

Delaware State Police pursued the car on I-95 North, where it crashed in Tinicum Township.

The suspected carjacking woman was taken into custody and taken to a nearby hospital.

The owner of the car was also taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

The accident caused some delays on the north lanes of the freeway.
