Walmart Sales were up in the most recent quarter, while higher product, supply chain and employee costs ate into profits.

US comparable sales, from stores or digital channels operating for at least 12 months, rose 3% in the quarter ended April 29, led by strength in foods , the company said Tuesday when it reported earnings. The company said the number of transactions in the US was flat for the quarter, while the amount spent each increased 3%.
