Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters Research technology and guide campaign progress
Vakir and speed of research
All the technologies that you research Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters requires Seeds to bloom. Therefore, it is imperative that you always try to collect seeds whenever you can during missions.
Other factors also affect the speed of research:
- Grimoires are item rewards from quests. Upgrading the Libris Malleus increases research speed depending on the Grimoires you have.
- Some of the Armory of Titan’s random events and dilemmas can affect Vakir’s morale and research speed.
- Quests and events can leave Vakir injured or missing. If Vakir is not available, the research will be paused until she recovers.
In any case, the study menu is divided into two halves. The left hand side mainly contains Strategies, abilities that can be used on the battlefield. We discuss these more in our Strategy guide.
As for the right technologies, some are also Strategy, you can see them listed below:

– All five technologies in the bottom row
|These technologies, once researched, allow you to find a Reaper boss that exploits a wide range of plagues. |
Only one Reaper target can be active at any given time. You must defeat that boss to choose another reward.
Campaign progress technology
As you can see in the image above, the first column starts with the “Poxwalker Necropsy” technology, followed by “The Seed”. These lead to early game missions where you learn about Bloom Seeds/seed collection mechanics.
Soon, you’ll need to research the “Origin of Bloom” technology. This shows an Eldar Craft World that has been vandalized by Nurgle, with the main quest being called “The Nexus”.
The completion of “The Nexus” reveals more research technology in Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, when four other plague strains were discovered. The lower branch has “Codex Toxicus,” which unlocks five “Codex Attunement” options.
Each acquisition technology requires seven Blooming Seeds of a specific strain/color. Once researched, it will reveal the location of a Reaper boss. This boss must be defeated before you can choose another reward. Since there are five strains of Reapers/plague, you’ll also need to do this five times to progress the campaign further.
