Warning to parents as man asks schoolgirl, 11, to ‘get in his van’

A student called the police after she had to flee from a man who asked her to “get in his van.”

The 11-year-old was walking on Kempsthorn Road in Pollok, Glasgow, at around 2.30pm today when the worrying incident occurred.

The man approached the teenager and asked her to get into the vehicle, but the frightened teenager managed to run away and alert the police.

Police Scotland have launched an investigation but it is understood there have been no arrests at this stage.

A police spokesman said: “At around 2.35pm on Monday 18 September 2023, police received a report of a man asking an 11-year-old girl to get into his van on Kempsthorn Road, Glasgow.

“The girl ran away and the incident was reported to the police.

“The investigation to fully clarify the circumstances is still ongoing.”
