Washington, DC weather: 4 critically injured in lightning strike near White House

WASHINGTON– Four people are in critical condition after an apparent lightning strike at a park in Washington, DC, authorities said Thursday night.

DC Fire and EMS said they responded to Lafayette Park in front of the White House and treated the four patients.

Two men and two women were taken to area hospitals with “life-threatening injuries” after the apparent lightning strike, DC Fire and EMS said.

US park police officers were also on site.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area on Thursday evening.
