Ed Sheeran performed ‘2step’ live in Belfast for the Billboard Music Awards 2022 earlier this week (May 12-13).

The star performed a pair at the city’s Boucher Road Playing Fields last week, with footage from one of the concerts airing during tonight’s awards ceremony (May 15).

The 2022 BBMAs will take place tonight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, hosted by Diddy. Sheeran scooped up the award for Billboard’s Global Top Artist (excluding the US) earlier today.

For his live performance, footage of the British star playing his ‘=’ track ‘2step’ from one of Northern Ireland’s gigs was shown as part of the ceremony. Watch the video below now.

The majority of the awards at the Billboard Music Awards 2022 were presented during a pre-show live stream on TikTok. Entering the ceremony, Olivia Rodrigo and Kanye West led the winners with six awards each.

The Weeknd has the most nominations at the 2022 BBMAs with 17 nominations, with Doja Cat trailing behind at 14th. She took home the first award of the main ceremony, taking home the trophy for Top R&B Artist .

Diddy opened the awards ceremony with help from Bryson Tiller, Jack Harlow and Teyana Taylor, before Silk Sonic brought a cover of Con Funk Shun’s ‘Love Train’ to Vegas. Latto also made his debut at the awards ceremony with a performance of ‘Big Energy’.

Morgan Wallen’s performance was quickly criticized by viewers as “voiced deaf”, he took to the stage shortly after messages about social justice and anti-racism. Travis Scott also appeared in public for the first time since last year’s Astroworld tragedy.

Mary J. Blige received this year’s Icon Award and was presented with it by last year’s winner, Janet Jackson. “I’m in a dream right now,” Blige said, before reflecting on her journey.
