Chris Hemsworth’s Thor finds himself facing a confrontation with a galactic killer hell that wants to destroy the gods in the trailer for the latest Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.
Written and directed by Oscar-winning Taika Waititi, the film promises “an arduous cosmic adventure,” according to a Marvel release, with Thor enlisting the help of a some familiar faces to uncover the mystery of the God Gorr Butcher. This is the latest installment in the resounding success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Avengers franchise and marks the fourth film centered on God of Thunder.
The trailer, which premiered during Monday night’s NBA playoff game between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics, features Natalie Portman, reprising her role as Thor’s ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, Russell Crowe as Zeus and Christian Bale as the villain Gorr the God Butcher. Expected to appear in the film’s all-star cast are Matt Damon, Chris Pratt, Tessa Thompson, Sam Neil and Melissa McCarthy.
Thor: Love and Thunder in theaters on July 8.
