Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted he will be part of Erik ten Hag’s side next season by heaping praise on the Dutchman ahead of his arrival.
Ten Hag will leave Ajax for United this summer after winning a third consecutive Eredivisie title.
There has been much speculation about Ronaldo’s future, as the Red Devils have had a difficult season.
The Portuguese star returned to Old Trafford last summer from Juventus and is in remarkable scoring form.
The 37-year-old has scored 18 goals in 29 Premier League appearances but has been unable to stop Man United’s decline.
The Red Devils have left all cup competitions and failed to finish in the top four this season.
Rumors have surfaced that the spell striker could be on the verge of a departure due to Ten Hag’s appointment and views and because of United’s worrying situation.
But his comments on the Dutchman’s appointment hint that the veteran forward will be ranked below Ten Hag next season.
Ronaldo told the official Manchester United website:
“I know that he did a great job at Ajax, and that he is an experienced coach, but we have to give him time,”
“Things have to change the way he wants. If he does well, all of Manchester United will succeed, so I wish him well. We are all happy and excited [about his arrival], not only as a player, but also as a fan. We have to believe that next year we can win titles. “
Manchester United will transform under Erik ten Hag with Cristiano Ronaldo at the forefront
The appointment of Erik ten Hag has given Manchester United fans encouragement as they face a difficult period in the club’s history.
The Red Devils will score the lowest points in their Premier League history this term.
But Ten Hag has a proven track record of transforming sides thanks to his work at Ajax in the many instances where players have left.
And United are gearing up for a major overhaul under the Dutchman with a host of changes expected.
But with Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly set to continue to be part of the team at Old Trafford, Ten Hag will have a world-class striker with ample experience.
Ronaldo’s leadership will be valuable to the Dutchman, who will want to improve the mood and mentality surrounding the club.
Perhaps the next course of action would be to find a striker to ease the scoring burden for Cristiano Ronaldo.
