We test body oils that hydrate your skin without being greasy

A few months ago, I didn’t like the idea of using body oil. The thought of sticky, slippery hands makes me cringe.
But the biggest gift of summer are new product launches that deliver hydrating, brightening benefits without any greasiness. . .
Budget
Weleda Skin Food Super Dry Oil, £15.95 for 100ml: Original Weleda Skin Food, £15, a makeup artist staple.
But sadly, despite its superior moisturizing power, I didn’t like its strong herbal smell.
Thankfully, the scent isn’t nearly as strong and since I don’t use it on my face it’s not as distracting as a cream.
The formula is watery, so you have to follow each part of your body to prevent it from dripping onto the floor.
It feels hydrating, but has a slight stickiness that takes a while to settle down, so I’m still not sure if I’ll make it my habit.
midrange
Caudalie Soleil Des Vignes Oil Elixir, £31 for 100ml: It was the smell of this that initially attracted me and encouraged me to give body oils another chance.
It was bottled in the summer, like sunscreen and golden skies, and immediately put a smile on my face.
I got loads of compliments while wearing it.
This formula is absorbed the fastest of the three and it doesn’t feel greasy or sticky after you apply it.
Spray bottles are great, as you can do one full spray and not have to pick up the bottle again, which can make it slippery like Weleda.
I also love that you can use it on your hair so the scent lasts longer.
So far, it’s been my favorite and I’ve ordered a backup so I’ll never be without it.
Luxurious
Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Body Firmeza Oil, £52 for 100ml: My sister likes Sol de Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, £21, but I find it too thick for everyday use.
So when I saw this diesel version, I was eager to give it a try.
It has the same iconic vanilla scent, but the liquid formula is easier to massage into the skin.
It dispenses more than other oils I’ve tried and you only need one pump per body part, making it quicker to apply and easy to break down.
I’ve only had a little over a month of the bottle, which isn’t a long time considering the cost, so it’s definitely a bottle for special occasions.
