Weekend Warrior – Summer Game Fest Edition

We’ve officially entered the hype time of the gaming year, and the staff of game informant is in full Summer Game Fest mode this week. Part of our team is in Los Angeles to watch many of the games shown during Summer Showcases, and the home team works just as hard watching presentations and storing seemingly endless amounts of trailers GI Readers updated with all the news coming to light this week. News like the reveal of The Last of Us Part I, the release date of TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, new intel on Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and Guile are coming to Street Fighter 6 to name a few.

With everyone so busy, Weekend Warrior would normally take a back seat in favor of SGF activities, but since we’ve been away for a few weeks I wouldn’t let that happen this time. Here’s what the game informant Staff plans this weekend:

Blake Hester, 28 years old – I’m playing Resident Evil 2 again this weekend. The remake. Not the original. This is a bad game. Or just an old game. Same difference. After the announcement of the Resident Evil 4 remake, I was in the RE mood. Replaying some recent games has reminded me what a bit of a freak I am for Capcom’s horror outings. Never played Resident Evil 3: Nemesis Remake though! He’s up next.

Wesley LeBlanc It’s an extremely busy weekend for me so I don’t see too many games ahead of it. The big highlight of this weekend is my little brother getting married (congratulations Cameron!!!!!) so that will take up most of my weekend. When I’m not participating in wedding pranks, I’ll be covering the weekend’s video game conferences (very excited for Xbox’s flagship Sunday) and hanging out with my family from out of town. I could maybe, maybe, see more too stranger things. I finished Season 4 last week and immediately started a full rerun of the series because damn that’s good TV right there. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Jill Grodt – As we’re in the middle of the summer shows, this weekend is all about video game news. Saturday is jam-packed with indie presentations, and hopefully by the end my list of games to watch is full. Of course, I’m also happy about funny announcements from the big stages. I hope everyone gets something to look forward to!

John Carson- This week marks my one year anniversary with game informant, and it was just as messy as my first one but with a lot more experience to make it manageable. I’ll be working all weekend, but it doesn’t feel like work that much because I’m watching all the same game trailers that I’d be glued to if I wasn’t working GI. When I’m not writing stories, I make up for it stranger things Season 4 (only one episode in and it’s awesome!), grinding on Diablo Immortal and catching up on Monster Hunter Rise endgame on PC to prepare for Sunrise in a few weeks. I can also hop into Guilty Gear Strive to get my butt whipped by some randos online if I feel like I could use the punishment.

Now it’s your turn, Game Informees. What has excited you about the Summer Game Fest so far? What plans and gimmicks do you have for the weekend? Do share your thoughts in the comment section below.
