Weeks starts out dry, rain chances later

Tampa, Fla. (WFLA) – Temperatures rise rapidly this morning and in the afternoon peaks will be in the 80s. That’s near the mid-May average.

Most of us are dry and hot throughout the day, but there is a chance of light rain for areas east of I-75 this afternoon and tonight.

As the sun sets, the showers quickly dissipate and the overnight low will be a 70s low.

We have a similar setup in the next few days. In the afternoon it will be hot with peaks near 90 degrees and we have a 10% chance of an inland shower later in the day.

Tropical humidity spreads northward over the weekend, and our chance of rain increases dramatically. We go to a 50% chance on Friday and a 60% chance on Saturday.

Scattered showers also continued into early next week.

Additional clouds and showers help keep temperatures high in the mid-’80s, but it gets pretty wet when it doesn’t rain. Looks like we’re moving into the rainy season, which usually starts around May 25th.
