West Chester, Pennsylvania dad creates FrightMaps app, a Halloween event guide

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — From attractions and professional events to incredible homemade Halloween shows, a West Chester dad rounds up the best fall must-sees here at home and across the country.

Michael Kane has developed a free app called FrightMaps.

The father of two and software engineer first brought us the ChristmasPrism app in 2020 to help you discover the best Christmas lights and displays in your area.

He’s back with the Halloween roundup that breaks down all the tricks and treats.

“It’s every major haunted attraction in America,” says Kane. “But it also allows any home to be haunted. Any Halloween enthusiast can also upload their house so everyone can find their 12ft skeletons, explosions and other Halloween decorations.”

Kane says the response across the country has been amazing.

“Just everyone’s enthusiasm,” he laughs. “Everyone said, ‘We wished for something like this.'”

Businesses, event coordinators, and homeowners who take pride in their Halloween decorations can upload any photos and directions to the app.

And yes, he covered your candy!

“We’ve got a really great surprise that nobody’s really going to know about until Halloween,” says Kane. “Each user who signs up basically ticks whether they give out candy or not. On October 31st this math will go live and you will be able to see all the Candy Corn Houses symbols all over your neighborhood. It’s going to be a really great experience.”

FrightMaps is free to download and free to upload.

All submissions will be reviewed, from best Halloween hangout spots to hay wagons to home decor.
