West Ham Fiorentina news: Reaction ahead of final victory parade as famous fans celebrate lifting trophy

Declan Rice addresses transfer rumors after West Ham Europa Conference League win

West Ham United players and staff will recover from the joy of lifting their first major trophy in 43 years after beating Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final in a dramatic evening on and off the pitch in Prague.

Jarrod Bowen’s 89th-minute goal gave the Hammers their most memorable 2-1 win, with prominent fans including James Corden and Danny Dyer – whose daughter is Dani Bowen’s partner – celebrating the triumph. However, the game had previously been marred when West Ham fans threw objects at Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi as he attempted to take a corner in the first half, causing him to bleed from a cut on the back of his head.

Hammers supporters later clashed with riot police in Prague after detonating flares in victory celebrations, as a scuffle broke out after police officers tried to seize a lit torch in the Old Town. Riot police stormed a group after setting off a second flare. Fans responded by throwing bottles and rockets at officers.

Earlier in the day, Czech police said they had arrested at least 16 Fiorentina fans after attacking West Ham supporters outside a bar. Videos were shared on social media showing chairs and firecrackers being thrown.

West Ham end trophy drought in most dramatic way with Jarrod Bowen playing hero

Jarrod Bowen’s last-minute winner saw West Ham United end their 43-year trophy wait with a dramatic 2-1 win over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final.

The Hammers won their first Silver title since the 1980 FA Cup and their first European Cup since 1965 on a historic and emotional night in Prague.

Yes, maybe it’s just Europe’s third-tier competition, which in its infancy last season was seen as an unwanted distraction by Tottenham and others. But this is West Ham. The West Ham, who routinely view relegation as an occupational hazard. The West Ham that made a song and dance out of leaving their old stadium and having a blast moving into the new one. The West Ham who had to beg their former manager to save him from relegation 18 months after they got rid of him when he did just that.

Just nine weeks ago, the same manager watched away fans unfurl a ‘Moyes Out’ banner in a feeble 1-0 win over Fulham, which likely saved his job. Now David Moyes has made a name for himself in West Ham folklore, joining Ron Greenwood and John Lyall as the trophy-winning Hammers manager. A place in next season’s Europa League means the club have qualified for Europe for the first time three times in a row.
