Who is Santi Cazorla?

Cazorla was born on December 13, 1984 in Llanera, Asturias, Spain.

He showed a keen interest in football from a young age and began a professional career in 2003 villa real after showing his skills at his hometown club Real Oviedo.

He soon became the club’s standout player and received the ‘Spain’s Footballer of the Year’ award.

Cazorla then joined La Liga club Málaga and landed a club-record £18.2m (€21m) deal.

Due to his impressive speed and shooting accuracy skills, he quickly gained a good reputation among top athletes.

He then secured his place in the Premier League arsenal for a fee of £10m in 2011–12.

What happened to Santi Cazorla?

Injuries plagued much of Cazorla’s football career to the point that he played with a broken bone during a friendly between Spain and Chile in 2013.

In 2016, he underwent surgery on his damaged ankle, but suffered an infection that made his recovery even more difficult.

Unfortunately, this became a constant issue for Cazorla, who suffered from a series of reopened wounds, burns and bacterial insect infections.

One such infection had eaten away at his Achilles tendon, spreading to the bone and putting him at risk of losing his leg.

Since his original injury, Cazorla has had to undergo 10 surgeries in total, including a skin graft that removed flesh from his left forearm and removed his tattoo dedicated to his daughter India.

Cazorla has not been to England since leave Arsenal but still dreams of playing “more and more years” for the Gunners.

Returning to his former club, he became the highest-scoring midfielder in Villarreal history and received a standing ovation.

He joined the Qatar Stars League team Al Sadd in 2020.

Cazorla is married to Ursula Santirso and has a son, Enzo, and a daughter, India.
