The Diplomat’s Guide to Parents and Age Rating
The political television thriller is rated TV MAwhich makes sense because this is a show aimed at adults, especially those who enjoy other political shows The western wing And Homeland. It’s intended for viewers over the age of 17, but for parents considering showing it to younger teens, you might be curious as to what to expect from the series.
The diplomat received his TV-MA rating for strong language, smoking, nudity, and sex. However, the sex and nudity on the show is mild, but it’s still there. There are a few sex scenes and some nudity, but everything is relatively short.
That said The diplomat is heavily about politics and may not interest young viewers. There is little to no action, and most of the show is based around fast walking and talking, much like The western wing and other projects by Aaron Sorkin.
Is there nudity in The Diplomat?
There is partial nudity The diplomat, but it’s usually limited to backs and very brief glimpses of the front. Most of the nudity comes from Rufus Sewell’s character, Hal, but even then it’s really not wasted, and neither are the few sex scenes, as most of the characters are still partially clothed. There’s also intimate nudity, but again, nudity is kept to a minimum. There is no graphic full front nudity.
Is there violence in The Diplomat?
The diplomat starts with a British warship exploding, but that’s pretty much the only violence in the entire first season, although there’s plenty of discussion about war and war crimes.
