What stores are open, closed on Thanksgiving 2022? Grocery, drugstores and more

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses have suspended their late-night Thanksgiving hours due to COVID-19, and most plan to continue the practice into 2022 and beyond.

Target, for example, told employees in 2021 that closing stores on Thanksgiving would become “the new norm” after CEO Brian Cornell heard from workers who were happy to stay home for the holiday.

Retailers are also beginning to extend the holiday shopping window by offering deals earlier than ever. The growing popularity of online shopping allows retailers to benefit before the start of the Christmas business, even if stationary trade is closed.

However, some businesses, such as well-known drugstore Rite Aid and supermarket chain Whole Foods Market, will remain open on Thursday, November 24 with regular holiday hours in most locations.

Here’s what we know about opening hours for Thanksgiving 2022.
