The Mariners officially began the countdown to the 2023 All-Star Game on Friday night.
SEATTLE — The Seattle Mariners unveiled the logo for the 2023 All-Star Game to be played in the Emerald City during their series against the Houston Astros on Friday.
The logo features the Space Needle and sunrise over Mount Rainier with evergreen trees in the foreground.
The design was led by Major League Baseball’s design team, and the Mariners have been working with that team for the past nine months to complete it.
“It was important to us that we landed in a place that was authentic to the Pacific Northwest, and I believe we got there,” said Catie Griggs, President of Business Operations at Mariners.
During the Astros game, the Seattle Mariners officially began the countdown to next year’s All-Star Game.
The all-star celebrations for the 2022 game came to a close in Los Angeles this week as Mariners rookie Julio Rodriguez made his mark on the national stage.
Seattle, which is hosting the 2023 All-Star Game, is expected to be an economic boom for the city, and Griggs said planning is already underway for what the events at T-Mobile Park will feel like. From Seattle’s connection with nature to the near-perfect summer weather the Pacific Northwest is known for, the team hopes to capitalize on the things that make the region unique.
“We’re on the clock, and now it’s really our turn to hammer in those details and make sure this is something that reflects all of the different communities in the Pacific Northwest,” Griggs said.
As he plans the events, Griggs hopes Seattle residents will feel like there’s something for everyone. Not everything will be a ticketed event and some fans may just go and attend.
This is the first time Seattle will host the All-Star Game since 2001, which was also the last time the Mariners made the playoffs.
