What’s going on with Alexa Bliss and WWE?

When WWE launched Alexa Bliss on the main roster, the diminutive consumer had a lot of work to do.

At just 5’1″ tall and weighing less than 100 pounds, Bliss isn’t exactly a powerhouse. She’s also followed four very talented and groundbreaking performers in Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks and Bayley – Dubbed “The Four Horsewomen” – to the main list. It’s a difficult mountain to climb.

WWE was only just beginning to focus on their women’s division when Bliss brought her to the company. Despite her small size, this blonde still makes fans admire with her pure ability, flashy personality and cultivation techniques.

Bliss had a hot streak with her finisher, ‘Twisted Bliss’ and made history as the first woman ever to reign as Champion of RAW and Smackdown Women’s.

Bliss became one of the cornerstones of female wrestling in WWE before a gimmick changed her personality completely.

Becoming a sidekick to The Fiend – in a role that is eerily reminiscent of Harley Quinn – Bliss transforms into a frenzied dark angel with powers on par with her mentor.

It’s a far cry from what ‘Little Miss Bliss’ fans have known for years. Gone are the smug ‘bad girl’ commercials. Now, she is practically speaking in tongues.

Bliss took on these quirky traits and even continued to take on this dark character after Bray Wyatt/The FIend was dropped from television and released by the company.

Alexa continued with the gimmick, carrying a doll named Lilly that seemed to have magical powers of its own. It just kept getting weirder and weirder from there.

And for a while, it worked. WWE fans generally enjoy Fiend and know that Bliss is talented enough to pull through, even if her mystical stick isn’t working. Now, however, they’re ready to go back to the old Alexa Bliss. The spell of black magic seemed to have finally worn off.

Apparently, Bliss was also unhappy with her position in World Wrestling Entertainment. She made a few suggestions on social media that she might be ready to start advertising. This may be due to frustration with the way she is placed or she may want to pursue other mediums such as film or television.

If she is repeatedly abused for the duration of her contract or is merely allowed to leave, both the fans and the female division of WWE will be the ones to bear the brunt of the consequences. Only 30 years old and already an established star, Bliss still has a lot to offer to the world of sports entertainment.

Let’s hope the company powers the ship and finds a situation where they can make the best use of her array of talents.
