Joe Rogan has continued his anti-abandonment culture stance, this time targeting the media industry. Rogan took advantage of Disney’s firing of Gina Carano The Mandalorian as an example of the problems with “awakened” media. Carano was fired by Disney and the United Talent Agency in February 2021.
In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the podcaster spoke about the actress and how she got the boot from Disney for a series of controversial messages on her social media. Carano was critical of American politics but used historical imagery of the Holocaust. Rogan said:
“She [Carano] got fired from The Mandalorian because I think essentially she was just talking about how people tend to think of other people who think differently as “others”. They are not us, they are others, but then she equated it with the Holocaust. As soon as you do that, people say, ‘Oh man, don’t fucking do that.’ Then they fired her. But I don’t think what she actually said was outrageous or terrible.”
Joe Rogan then explained how he interpreted what the actor shared on the now-deleted social media posts:
“I think she just wanted to say that the political divide in this country divides and polarizes people. That is unhealthy. Unfortunately, she compared it to the Holocaust, so Disney fired her.”
Rogan also praised the work of the news organization The Daily Wire. The podcast host praised the news outlet for trying to produce strictly right-wing content without the “noise” from the left.
Listen to The JRE episode where Rogan talks about Gina Carano:
Gina Carano is dying to appear on Joe Rogan’s podcast to talk about The Mandalorian’s layoff
The actress in question, Gina Carano, appeared to confirm that she would appear in a future episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. The former UFC star, who has responded to a viral clip of Rogan discussing her release from Disney, has said there’s a lot more to the story. Gina Carano wrote on Twitter:
“There’s a lot more to this story and I’m so excited to move forward and talk about it.”
According to reports and Carano himself, Lucasfilm and Disney have wanted to fire her for some time. Their then-controversial posts gave them the reason they were supposedly looking for.
