It’s time to buy a new coat. one that is actually sweet and will actually keep you warm I often find that the perfect outerwear that offers both isn’t that easy to come by, so I’ve put together a list of where to buy coats online to make your fall and winter shopping that much smoother. Also, I need help deciding which coat on this list to buy for myself.
When I think of hardcore parkas, brands like Mackage and Canada Goose come to mind. When I want something trendier, Apparis and Noize are my usual go-to places. However, I’ll often snag some of my best coats on sale at big retailers like Nordstrom Rack, Verishop, and Macy’s. When it comes to the wide world of outerwear, the possibilities are almost endless – and frankly, it’s kind of overwhelming.
But don’t stress! Rest assured, your perfect coat or jacket supplier is somewhere on this list, whether you’re looking for a chic down jacket, a faux fur piece in a striking hue, or something to wear day-to-day when the weather dips below 32°.
Shop our favorite places to buy coats online below—plus the picks I wish would magically show up in my closet.

Um, do I need to remind you that Amazon carries one of the most famous overcoats of the last decade?! Orolay’s thickened down jacket
is basically the coat that broke the internet, and it can be yours in one of 13 colorways for just $150. However, Amazon’s The Shop by Shopbop stocks cute outerwear from brands like Apparis, ALC, Parajumpers, and more.
Duh, Nordstrom is a great place to go if you’re looking for tons of outerwear brand options. And this season’s online picks are bright red! With brands like The North Face, Zella, Bernardo, Canada Goose you are always guaranteed a good deal and have the chance to snag the coat of your dreams cheaper in the sale. Right now I’m eyeing this Hyalite hooded down jacket as my potential everyday puffer.
Whether you’re looking for an oversized padded parka, a fitted wool coat or a plush puffer, Zara has every coat trend you can imagine, with price tags ranging from affordable to luxurious. The Long Fleece Coat is at the top of my list simply because it looks ultra-cozy and chic.
If you want a trendier look this fall and winter, Revolve definitely has you covered, with outerwear options from stylish brands like Mackage, Toast Society, ALC and more. Talk about endless possibilities! I’m a big fan of Toast Society’s puffer options, so don’t be surprised if you see me in the Revolve x Cartia Mallan puffer jacket soon.
Find top brands on sale so you can try the biggest trends while saving money. Take this Sam Edelman number, for example, which is currently on a huge 54 percent discount. A wool coat for under $100? Add this bargain to your cart while you still can.
If you’re looking for big designer names, head straight to Saks Fifth Avenue, where you’ll find brands like Burberry, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. How could you miss an iconic Burberry trench coat like this? It’s the kind of coat that will be a staple in your wardrobe for years to come.
If you’re shopping on a budget, you’ve come to the right place at Target. There are so many trendy ones and affordable picks that will upgrade your wardrobe. The retailer also offers a variety of plus-size options. Slip into this sophisticated checked coat to turn heads.
Another department store to visit before deciding on your OTC (One True Coat) is Macy’s. They always have plenty to choose from and you can often find a damn good bargain! Shop raincoats, trench coats, faux fur, teddy coats, wool options, and of course, heavy-duty down parkas for winter at Macy’s website. I love this Michael Kors option for many reasons—namely, the asymmetric front and detachable belt.
These days I check Verishop for pretty much everything before I buy anywhere else. And surprise surprise, they have a wonderful selection of outerwear! Coats and jackets from CAALO, Unreal Fur and my personal statement favorite Andreeva are ready. For a seemingly classic option that isn’t so classic after all (it’s sustainable, reversible and Convertible!) this CAALO down coat is child’s play.
If you want impeccable faux fur in all the colors of the rainbow, Apparis has to be your one stop shop for outerwear. I’m also a fan of their vegan leather puffers and their hem-based faux wool shearlings, but nothing beats their classic Pluche faux fur made from recycled fibers. The Stella is my current obsession.
Mackage is an OG BCB (Bougie Coat Brand, duh) known for incredible leather and flattering silhouettes that actually keep you warm when it’s -10° and you just have a few errands to run. Turn to them for everything from lightweight down jackets to parkas, always with a sophisticated flair. The Trish is a perfect piece of evidence A.
Alo recently launched a range of jackets and coats for her first-ever holiday outerwear campaign with Kendall Jenner. To me that makes perfect sense! I love throwing on a chic coat to spice up my daily wear from leggings and tracksuits so Alo is now my go-to choice for my entire fall/winter wardrobe. Expect the sherpa trench and stunner puffer jacket to become bestsellers.
If a sustainable, cruelty-free brand offering all kinds of outerwear is your thing, you’ll fall head over heels in love with Noize. Not only do they have a collection with mega influencer Tezza, they already have a wide range of trendy yet timeless pieces to choose from. A classic wool coat in the color of the season? Sign me up for the Sloane in the shade Clover.
With renowned craftsmanship crafted for 60 years, Canada Goose makes outerwear that lasts and keeps you warm. When you find your perfect fit, it could be the last coat you ever buy! While you simply can’t go wrong with one of their more timeless parkas or down jackets, I’m here to make the case for the trendy Junction Parka Pastels. Sorry for flowers for spring, but pastels for winter really do feel groundbreaking!
Reformation doesn’t make durable outerwear, but they do do have a stylish selection of jackets and coats for fall that I can’t get enough of. Think classic silhouettes in enhanced patterns and colorways that add a playful punch. Wouldn’t Elle Woods Rock the Middlefield Coat in Beige Plaid?! It feels like an obvious must to me.
Uniqlo’s super thin Ultra Light Down material has put their packable down jackets and jackets on the map as some of the best layering pieces of all time, so of course they deserve a spot on this list. If you don’t have one, you need one. From there, building your outerwear wardrobe is a breeze, and you can opt for bolder styles like this grape purple seamless down coat.
Bernie is Bernardo’s sustainable sister brand with trendy silhouettes made entirely from recycled materials. From shaggy peacoats with statement linings to longline, quilted French terry styles, they know exactly what you need to elevate your outerwear collection. Someone stop me before I buy this quilted puffer coat for all my fall layering fantasies.
