Epic TV today. It was Preakness week, so this morning we watched the very popular Dawn Tours at Pimlico.

For 30 years, these tours have hosted Preakness Week from 6am to 9am. They start today and last through Friday. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at a race track at the most perfect time of day. Not only is it the most active time of the day at the track, but on a fine weather morning it takes a legendary poet to describe the whole vibe.
K2 and I, along with Fran Burns, planned to take our audience to two of the tour stops. First we stopped at the starting gate, then we visited with two chariot players, who showed us an important piece of training equipment. Both stops were truly a joy and learning experience.
The starter portal is more involved than you might think. We featured Edmund Benson and longtime broadcaster Dave Rodman. When that gate opened, and it actually closed, Rodman was the voice that said, “And they’re off!”
We then met up with jockey players Darius Thorpe and Yomar Ortiz, who provided us with the Equicizer scoop. It may look like a toy, but it allows riders to simulate the positions and movements required to control their horse.

In case you forgot, these are world-class athletes driving a 1,200-pound animal at full speed in a stream of other horses. It’s fascinating to hear how it’s done. Simply fascinating!
Some days are better than others, no matter what business you’re in. Let’s just assume that today is a great day and this segment is definitely worth your attention.
If you’re looking to sign up for the Sunrise Tour, you’ll find all the details on Pimlico’s website.
