Which are the most miserable NFL fan bases? We ranked them

When you think about it, life as an NFL fan in general can be a miserable existence. Because only one in 32 fan bases has reason to celebrate after their team’s last game of the season.
Some fan bases have experienced such excitement more often than others. Some have, but haven’t for a long time. Some always seem to be on the verge of such unbridled joy, only to have their hopes dashed on a regular basis.
And of course, some fan bases have never had the opportunity to celebrate a Super Bowl win.
With the season coming to a close with Super Bowl LVII on February 12, we tried to figure out which NFL fan bases are the most (and least) unhappy in general. Our intricate and entirely contrived formula takes into account factors such as recent successes or failures, optimism for the near future, and to a lesser extent past successes (keeping in mind that the further back an event is, the less relevant it might be to today’s fans) .
Here’s how the rankings ranked (please note that the years listed refer to the regular season, not necessarily when the postseason games took place), with the fanbases with the most reasons to be optimistic topping the list and those who should be most deeply dissatisfied at the bottom:
