After a week filled with tributes and events following the Queen’s death, many Royal fans are wondering: Who attended Queen Elizabeth’s funeral?

On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 96. Buckingham Palace released a statement on September 8 confirming the news of the Queen’s death. “The Queen passed away peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” the palace’s official statement said. “The King and Queen will stay at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.” Those who have been with the Queen during her death include Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William, who is second in line to the throne. The Queen has made the long journey from Balmoral Castle in Scotland to Buckingham Palace in London, England. The Queen’s coffin was carried from the palace to Westminster Hall, where her coffin was laid for four days before her funeral on 19 September 2022 at Westminster Abbey.

With more than 2,000 seats at the Abbey, the Queen’s funeral was attended by many diplomats and celebrities from around the globe. Here are the celebrities who attended the sacred funeral.

Celebrities like Sandra Oh and Bear Grylls attended Queen Elizabeth’s funeral on September 19, 2022. The two arrived with different delegations out of respect for their country.

New Year’s Eve Killing and Grey’s Anatomy’s Sandra Oh attended the Queen’s funeral with the Canadian delegation. The actress was a member of the Order of Canada, and attended the funeral along with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Government of Canada announced on September 16, 2022, that the delegation would “participate in a procession of national titles as part of the service”. Order of Canada members Mark Tewksbury and Gregory Charles, and Cross of Valor recipient Leslie Arthur Palmer were also included.

Bear Grylls also attended the funeral as a representative of The Scouts. Grylls was appointed the UK’s youngest ever Chief of Scouting for the UK and Overseas Territories at the age of 35 in 2009. In 2019, Grylls was appointed by the Queen, patron of the Scout Association. . hope and promise for future generations”.

Another actor who attended the funeral was Sophie Winkleman, known for her role in the comedy series Peep Show, as a member of the royal family. She was married to Lord Frederick Windsor, the son of the Queen’s cousin Prince Michael of Kent.

A distinguished leader for more than 70 years, many world leaders have come to Westminster Abbey for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral. According to the BBC, around 100 presidents and heads of government are believed to have been at the monastery

Incumbent British Prime Minister Liz Truss was also present with other living British Prime Ministers such as Boris Johnson, Theresa May and David Cameron. US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden sat in the 14th row and were said to be late. They sat behind Polish president Andrzej Duda. The French President, Emmanuel Macron, was present with his wife Brigitte. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern also attended with their delegations. Other Commonwealth nations that attended included the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, the president of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Prime Minister of Fiji, Frank Bainimarama. China sent its vice president, Wang Qishan, at the invitation of the British government.

All the reigning monarchs of the world are invited to attend state funerals such as the Queen and the kings of the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Norway and Belgium. The Emperor and Empress of Japan also attended and this is their first international visit since they ascended the throne three years ago. Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Queen Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah sit behind the King and Queen of Jordan. Queen Margrethe II of Denmark stopped all her 50th celebrations following the death of her third cousin, Queen Elizabeth II.
