Who is the actor behind Dr. Jacob in Ted Lasso?

Spoiler alert: This article contains spoilers for Teddy Lasso Season 3, Episode 3.

From the beginning Teddy Lasso Season 3 focused on mental health. After Ted’s very public panic attack in Season 2 of the Apple TV Plus series, Ted, with the help of Dr. Sharon Fieldstone (Sarah Niles) takes steps to manage his anxiety. But as he learns to manage these emotions, he is given a wrench named Dr. thrown to Jacob.

In Episode 1, when Ted is on the phone with his son Henry, he learns about “Mommy’s friend Jake”. It’s clear that Michelle’s “new boyfriend” will be a point of contention throughout the season. In Episode 3 of Season 3, we learn that Jake is none other than Ted and Michelle’s couples therapist. dr Jacob. *thinks* is right.

In episode 3 of Teddy LassoIn the current season, Ted realizes he forgot his cell phone and needs to wish Henry luck before Henry’s soccer game, so he calls his ex-wife’s house phone. Jacob thinks it’s a telemarketing call and picks up the phone, intending to mess with the caller.

But since the caller is Ted, it turns into an incredibly awkward exchange just before Ted’s big game. Ted realizes that Michelle is not only dating someone, but that someone is her former couple’s therapist, Dr. Jacob, is.

“You can just call me Jake,” he tells Ted. Ted is rightly angry as this is a serious breach of his trust and privacy. Now his skepticism about the therapy, coupled with his negative experiences, is not so far-fetched. Remember earlier on the show when Ted was talking about couples counseling? Well, now Ted knows his gut was right.

“She’s been with this therapist for a while,” Ted said at the time. “I just felt like I was being tricked… Like I was going in there not to be listened to, just to hear all the things I did wrong.” Jacob intentionally trying to break up Ted and Michelle? Whether intentional or not, a patient-therapist relationship is grossly unethical.

Luckily we can match the face of Dr. Give Jacob, played by an actor, a real name Mike O’Gorman. For some reason, Mike was left out of the credits, but he’s the man behind the face who’s forever etched into our minds as Ted’s adversary. Weirdly, Mike has a sense of humor when it comes to playing a villain.

On March 29th he tweeted, “It’s a MOG double dip! I’m at 2 shows today! Love me on @TrueLiesCBS on @CBS at 10 p.m., then hate me on #TedLasso on AppleTV+!” Mike knows he’s playing one of the season’s most hated characters, but he joins the Dr. Jake hate on.

Mike is on the rise between roles True Lies And Teddy Lasso. Before that he was in an episode of PerryMason and a few episodes of Detroiters. But we suspect this is just the beginning for Mike, which is sure to make waves, and not just in Ted Lasso’s world.
