WednesdayNetflix Addams family The spin-off follows Wednesday Addams, a 16-year-old with psychic powers who moves to Jericho, Vermont to attend Nevermore Academy, a school for monstrous outcasts that her parents Gomez and Morticia Addams once attended. In a June 2022 interview with STYLECASTER, Jenna Ortega, who plays in Wednesday, said WednesdayShe revealed she was cast in the title role while filming the horror film X.”I had filmed X in New Zealand and we were shooting at night. I was up almost 24 hours. I was told I had to call Tim Burton at the end of my day,” she said at the time. “I was wearing prosthetics and I had a long cut above my lip and I had glycerin in my hair so my hair was all oily and peeling. I was tired, delirious and got this call. I did two scenes. I didn’t intend to do another TV series because I’ve done it so many times and done more movies. But Tim – even the chance to meet him would have been an honor.”

She continued, “Also, Wednesday has never really been in the Latina light, even though she’s Latina, and I think that’s really important. It would be cool to give that level and level of representation to girls who look like me or are part of my community. I read with them. I didn’t feel too confident in my reading. I remember sending my mom tapes of me doing the scenes after which I was like, ‘Do you think that would have been better? Maybe I should have gone that route.” The actual filming of the show was really interesting. There were so many different paths we could have taken for this character. I know that’s weird to say because she’s expressionless. But even during filming we tried so many different readings and so many different options. I hope it’s something that people will agree with and like. We tried to do something a little bit different. I just hope it resonates and I live up to her.”
