Who is Vogue’s Chioma Nnadi?

BRITISH Vogue has appointed fashion journalist Chioma Nnadi as its new head of editorial content.

She will succeed Edward Enninful, who announced he was relinquishing the title.

Who is Chioma Nnadi and where is she from?

Nnadi was born to a Swiss-German nurse and a Nigerian father who came to the UK to study in the 1960s.

She grew up in central London and began her career in the features department of the Evening Standard.

She then moved to New York to write for the independent style magazine Trace before covering fashion and its connections to music for Fader.

Nnadi is also the co-host of the popular podcast “The Run-Through.”

When did Chioma Nnadi first start working with Vogue?

Nnadi started as a fashion news writer at Vogue in 2010.

Over the next decade, she worked her way up from fashion news director to editor of vogue.com in September 2020.

There she was behind some of the biggest Vogue cover stories of the year, including Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and Erykah Badu.

On September 18, 2023, it was announced that Nandi had been appointed British Vogue’s new head of content.

“Beloved by her Vogue colleagues, Chioma is an editor and writer with an impeccable reputation – both here and in the fashion industry at large,” says Anna Wintour said in a statement about her appointment.

“I can’t think of a more worthy person to follow in his footsteps than Chioma, who has proven adept at speaking to our digital audiences and has found ways to extend Vogue’s reach, authority and influence across all of ours expand platforms.

“She has a passion for fashion, music and culture and I couldn’t be happier that she will be leading our editorial and creative teams in London.”

Nnadi will be the first black woman to lead a major luxury fashion house. which also has branches in the USA, France and Italy.

“As someone born and raised in London, the city’s energy – its boundary-pushing style and creative scene – has shaped the way I see the world,” Nnadi said in a statement on Monday in the middle of London Fashion Week.

“Now, more than ever, it feels like a moment to look beyond borders while celebrating the broad spectrum of what it means to be British,” she added of her return to her hometown.

“I look forward to engaging a loyal and inspired digital community driven by our approach, perspective and storytelling.”

Nnadi will officially assume the role on October 9, 2023.

Who is Edward Enninful at British Vogue?

Nnadi takes over from British stylist Edward Enninful.

Edward announced his resignation from the post in June and confirmed that the March 2024 issue will be his last as editor-in-chief of British Vogue.

As the publication’s first black editor, British Vogue became a more diverse magazine that championed plus-size and transgender models.

It also featured celebrities like Meghan Markle.

Although Enninful is leaving his current position, he remains with Vogue publisher Condé Nast.

He will be the global creative, cultural and editorial advisor to British Vogue.
