Why Can’t I Type or Chat in Among Us?

Regardless of whether you are an impostor or part of the gang, persuading other players to vote your way in Among Us plays an important role in winning. Sometimes, responses generated with the Quick Chat wheel are ignored, as they may lack specificity.

Let’s explore a few reasons why you can’t type Among us and their solutions.

Innersloth is updating between us

It’s likely that the problem isn’t on your side. The developer Of Us, Innersloth, is constantly releasing new game updates or patches to fix any bugs. When this happens, some game functions, including chat, may be affected. You can check Innersloth’s Twitter account and find out if there are any problems related to the game’s functionality.

If you can’t find any relevant information on Twitter, we’ll show you some fixes that you should try so you can use chat as usual.

You are playing as a guest

Sometimes, Among Us will show a login error when launching the game. In this case, you will have to use a guest account to continue playing.

Guest accounts will remove some game features, which means it will be difficult for you to use Quick Chat.

While the Quick Chat wheel has a lot of options that can help you win, the truth is that you may be at a disadvantage against users who enter Free Chat. If you want to go against other players, Free Chat is your best tool.

To fix this issue, exit the game and relaunch it. If you still cannot sign in to your account, there may be a problem with the login functions.

You are not over 18 years old

When you first launch Among Us, you must enter your date of birth. If you don’t want to waste time and just enter a random date, this could be the source of your problem. Innersloth decided that users under the age of 18 could only use the Quick Chat option as an extra safety measure.

You can create a new account and make sure you’ve set your age to 18 or older. But if you don’t want to lose your game progress, there is a solution that you can use to change your age on desktop.

  1. Open Data management program.
  2. Towards (C :)> User > Name > AppData > LocalLow > Innersloth > Among Us.
  3. There, search playerPrefs and open it with Notepad.
  4. Find a string of numbers that corresponds to the date of birth you selected when you first launched the game. For example, July 30, 2012, would correspond to 7,30,2012.

  5. Change the date and save the file before closing it.
  6. Launch the game and check if you can now use Free Chat.

If you enjoy playing games on your phone, you can change your age in Among Us for Android. From Setting menu, press Apps and updates. Then go to Among us > Archives. There, press Delete data. The game will now prompt you to enter your date of birth at launch.

Unfortunately, the process is not so smooth when it comes to changing your age in Among Us for iOS. You will have to delete and reinstall the game to enter a new date of birth.

You are using instant chat instead of free chat

If you’re a veteran among us, you know things get hot sometimes. Maybe you want to play without facing internet trolls, deactivated Free Chat and forget about it. To re-enable it, click Find gamesand from Chat typeSelection Free chat.
