WILDWOOD, NJ (WPVI) — Cape May County prosecutors announced another arrest in connection with a deadly H2Oi car rally on the Jersey shore.

Zion Diaz, 18, of Hammonton, was arrested Oct. 12 and faces riot charges.

Authorities say Diaz directed others to block intersections, conduct “burnouts” and prevent police vehicles from responding to emergency calls during an unauthorized car rally in Wildwood Sept. 24.

The rally resulted in multiple accidents and claimed the lives of two people: Timothy Ogden, 34, of Clayton, NJ, and Lindsay Weakland, 18, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Last month, Gerald White was also charged with aggravated manslaughter and Eryk R. Wnek with aggravated assault in connection with the incident.

Wildwood has introduced a number of regulations aimed at preventing future unauthorized rallies.

“As the District Attorney’s Office conducts its assessment of local and state agency coordination and response to the violent pop-up mob rally, the city is taking practical and fundamental steps to prevent this event from ever happening again,” Mayor Pete said byron
