Woman charged after stolen phone thrown in Shelby Park lake

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman accused of stealing her phone and throwing it into a lake in East Nashville has been charged with robbery.

Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Porter Street in response to an incident between a man and a woman in the parking lot of a convenience store. An affidavit states that once at the scene, a man told officers that his ex-girlfriend Regina French, 52, approached him aggressively and fucked him from behind.

The documents say the man was able to push the French away from him and then she approached a vehicle occupied by his girlfriend, who was in the front passenger seat. Officials said the victim was trying to call 911 when the French rushed at her through the window and yanked the cell phone out of her hand. French then fled the scene in his car with the stolen cell phone.

According to Metro police, French later returned to the scene and admitted to police that she drove the stolen phone to Shelby Park and threw it into the lake.

The Frenchman was charged with burglary, which is a Class C felony.
