Woman dies and man rushed to hospital after fire rips through Alcester home

A woman has died and a man taken to hospital in a house fire in the West Midlands.
After a fire at an address, rescue workers marched to Ragley Mill Lane, Alcester at 5.48am this morning.
Upon arrival, they discovered a woman who had been rescued from the fire.
Despite the desperate efforts of paramedics, she tragically died at the scene of the accident.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a woman who had been rescued from the property by fellow firefighters.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save her and her death was confirmed at the scene.
“A second patient, a man, was treated for the effects of smoke inhalation before being taken to Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.”
